John Paton age 73, passed peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Nisbet Lodge, Toronto. Special thanks to the caregivers at Nisbet Lodge for their personal care and dedication.

John is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Rusbridge and brother Cameron Paton. He is predeceased by his Father Alexander Paton, Mother Alice Paterson and Step-Father Donald Paterson.

John will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and very close friend Mr. Charles Tanner.

John was a well-respected lawyer for 34 years in the Legal Department of the City of Toronto. He was well known for his calm demeanor, kindness and quick wit. He will be sadly missed by his coworkers.

John and Mary loved to travel. John was especially fond of San Diego, Hawaii and enjoyed practising his Italian while travelling in Italy.
John had a special love for British Shorthair cats, especially Sam, Toby and Lucy.

John and Mary were married for 44 years very wonderful years. Mary will greatly miss his special humour and his cooking.

On Saturday, October 25, 2025, relatives and friends will be received at Turner and Porter Funeral Home, Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by a short service and refreshments.

Internment will follow on Monday October 27, 2027, at 10 a.m. St. Peter’s Cemetery, 806 Victory Street, London, Ontario.
