In Celebration of

John Long

September 21, 1930 -  July 13, 2025

John died peacefully at West Park Long Term Care Centre on July 13, 2025 at the age of 94.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Dorothy, his children David (Jane), Robert (Judy), Nancy, Janet (Dan Popadiuk) as well as his grandchildren, Emily and Michael Long.

After his retirement from the architectural design field, he followed his passion for oil painting using photos from his many travel destinations and inspirations. He produced more then 100 exquisitely detailed paintings that are cherished by many.

A memorial service will take place at Turner & Porter, Butler Chapel 4933 Dundas St. W. on Wednesday July 23rd at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Doctors Without Borders, Alzheimer’s Society or the Food Bank “WAES” (Weston Area Emergency Support) would be greatly appreciated.

I am sorry for the loss of a wonderful uncle. What a wonderful and valuable life he had. I have so many memories. My favorite though was when he visited us in vancouver. Always knowing we had mountains. The whole viait we had clouds and rain. When he left in his rye humor, he said to my mom " are you sure on that mountain theory pegs?' I think of him and smile. I send my love to aunt dodie and my cousins
May he be a blessing to us. Love you Anne

Dear Dorothy,
I was saddened to learn that John had passed away and very soon after our visit with you. Although this is a difficult time for you and your family, I'm sure it is a comfort to you all that he is now at peace. Sincerest sympathy at this difficult time. His absence will leave a big hole as you have been such a caring and attentive partner. The support of your family, many wonderful memories and your own enthusiasm for life, I know, will carry you through. Unfortunately, Sheila and I are not able to attend the funeral because of a previous commitment, but we look forward to visiting you when you are ready.
In sympathy and friendship,
Shirley Zaky
