In Celebration of

John Leslie Allen

July 3, 1944 - August 18, 2023

Please raise a glass and toast the life of John Leslie Allen (3 July 1944 – 18 August 2023). Husband of Kathleen, father to Laura and Matthew, and grandfather to Luka, Lily, Rose and Jacob. John was not a religious man, preferring to leave whatever gods there might be alone to do their own thing and hopefully leave him out of it. We therefore commend his soul to whatever just and decent god that will have him and, if none are available, we hope they’ll just let him putter around undisturbed, as he liked to do on earth. Anyone wishing to do so is encouraged to make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.
A celebration of life will be held at the Turner & Porter Neweduk-Erin Mills Chapel. 1981 Dundas St. W. Mississauga (East of Erin Mills) on Sunday, October 15, 2023, from 2-4 p.m.

Mrs Allen, Laura, and Matthew.

While not unexpected, the news of your loss leaves a deep ache in my heart. Mr. Allen was very much a second dad to me through my teenage years, and I thought of him often and so fondly. He helped and supported a small gang of teenage girls in ways he never knew, nor expected to. He helped us learn to drive, to navigate friendships, to conquer fears and broken hearts. He celebrated our wins, would rescue us from anywhere at anytime, and always provided us with a safe home and cuppa when needed. He was a good friend to my own late father who also adored him.

The world truly is a much lesser place without him in it. Thank you for sharing him with us. What a perfect obituary for a wonderful man.

My condolences to you all. He was not only a wonderful father to Laura and Matt but as well as a father figure to many of us as teens growing up.
I will always remember his kindness and unwavering loyalty and dedication to his family.
