In Celebration of

John Kenneth George "Ken" Moffatt

July 10, 1937 -  November 17, 2024

We are greatly saddened to regretfully announce the peaceful passing of Ken Moffatt, at the age of 87 on Sunday, November 17th, 2024. He is survived by his sons, Thomas (Tom) and wife Brenda, Mark and wife Kim, and Michael, his two grandchildren, Patricia (Tricia) and Ashley, and his great grandson Felix. Dad now has the opportunity, after waiting 14 months with a broken heart, to spend all eternity with his true love and bride of 66 years Gloria.
Ken was born in Toronto at home on Dufferin Street, spent his youth in Long Branch (now part of Toronto) where he went to North Toronto SS. The family had a cottage complex on Lake Rosseau, summers were spent there. It was in Long Branch, through his next-door neighbour that he met Gloria Miller, the love of his life and ultimately his wife in December of 1956. They resided in Long Branch and then moved to Clarkson in the Toronto Townships (now Mississauga) in 1961 which remains the family home today.
Ken had many passions, The Leafs, The Argos, The Blue Jays and The Raptors but his main passion was Gloria and his boys. Family was everything to him, from his boys to his granddaughters and ultimately his great grandson (he always wanted to watch Felix play hockey but unfortunately he lacked the mobility to do so).
Ken loved to talk! He would talk to anyone about anything, the truth never got in the way of a good story. Holidays were always special, everybody together made mom happy so dad was happy. Food was important, he loved to eat and loved to show his prowess in the kitchen, he never missed the opportunity to tell anyone that would listen that he was the first boy to take Home Economics while in grade 9. Many will remember him as the “oil man”, delivering fuel oil for Clarkson Fuels to their homes. Others will remember him as “coach” as he coached hockey in Clarkson for many years. And still others will remember him for his booming voice in the choir at South Sheridan United Church.
Thank you to his various caregivers from Home & Community Care of Peel Halton, and Wellbrook Place and his varied and many physicians.
Visitation and Funeral at Turner & Porter Neweduk-Erin Mills Chapel, 1981 Dundas St W, Mississauga, ON L5K 1R2 (905) 828-8000. Visitation on Sunday, November 24, 2024, from 2 – 5 pm. Funeral Service on Monday, November 25, 2024, 3:00 pm.
