In Celebration of

John Frederick Fischook

September 22, 1939 -  February 21, 2023

John passed away age 83 at home after a lengthy illness on February 21, 2023 surrounded by love.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 41 years, Joyce Blondin, his 3 children Eric, Leslie (David), Sandi (Michael) as well as his grandchildren, Greer, Hope (Brandon), Sophie and Ryan (Jess). He will be fondly remembered by his cousins, Beau, Linda (Phil), Jim (Linda), sister-in-law Lynn Metcalfe, brother-in-law, Gordon Metcalfe, niece Allison and nephew, Michael (Andrea)

John was born in Manitoba, but spent his formative years in California. While attending the University of Southern California, he married his first wife, Waltraud Neumann.

They started a family and relocated to Canada where he pursued careers in retail, self-employment and manufacturing.

John had a good life. He and Joyce enjoyed many years of travel, visiting museums, socializing and spending time with their many treasured pets. John was a man of many passions, history, languages and classical music. A lover of nature, he enjoyed relaxing in our backyard surrounded by trees, birds and wild animals. In retirement his hobby was painting which ended with the progression of Parkinson's.

We are thankful for 3 years of assistance from Jannette, John's full-time PSW who became a part of our family. We are also grateful for Eric's unselfish devotion to his Dad in his final months. Until recently, Home Instead provided assistance.
A private family service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Parkinson Canada or Ontario Humane SPCA would be appreciated.

Online condolences may be made through www.turnerporter.ca

I knew John Fischook for decades, through my friendship with his son Eric.
John always had kind words for me. To this day, I have never met anyone with better people skills. He always knew what to say to put everyone around him at ease.

My father always mused that it seemed that we had to see our loved ones suffer in order to make it easier for us to accept it when they leave.
Unfair as that is, we now have to think back to the happier times and concentrate on those memories. I can only picture John getting tackled by Max as soon as he steps through the gates and then having a laugh while catching up with his parents and mine while those of us here do what we can to maintain the values that they passed onto us and try to do them proud.

Peace to All,
Beau
