Hi Chris and Family,
From the day we moved in next door (December 29, 1992), you and John have always been great neighbours. Our friendship remained strong, as we occasionally borrowed needed things from each other, watched each other's pets, and did what we could to help in little ways.
I can still hear John's deep, infectious laugh from next door, generally from morning to late in the evening. And we heard it every day you were home, many, many times a day, even after John had lost his eyesight. The loss of his ability to drive slowed him very little, and we often saw him with Rocco either going to or coming back from the store, happy that he was able to do so.
I always admired John's world view (and his commitment to the Maple Leafs - I think I got eight or nine lawn cuttings by him in our annual sports bets that HE would always broach in the fall of every year). He had a gentle, kind and happy outlook on life.
If everyone had half the generous demeanor as John, the world would be a much better place.
My deepest condolences to you, Chris, and your family.
John

We first met Mr. Says not long after we got our first black lab puppy. I will always remember John bending down to kiss and hug our dog. After that, we always ran into him on our daily dog walks. Once he got a new dog, there was time for sniffing and play - while we humans would talk. He always had a kind word to say or a funny story to tell, and he loved to give our Shadow - and later our Dougan - a scratch behind the ears! We will miss him. Our condolences to Chris and the family....our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
