John Alex McLean, age 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 29 in his home with his daughter Kim and his son-in-law Joe by his side.

John was born on March 7, 1934, in Regina to Wilfred McLean and Florence Hodgins. He had two brothers Don, and Rus, and a sister, Jean. The family moved to Toronto in the 1940s where John soon became well known as an all-around athlete. Married in 1958 to Doris Bourne, they lived many years in Erin Mills surrounded by a wonderful neighbourhood of long-time friends. John is well known for his 20+ years coaching hockey in Erindale. A wonderful athlete, a devoted husband, and a loving father and grandfather. John is fondly remembered as a kind, charming, and helpful person who always had a smile for anyone he met. A good friend with a great sense of humor, active, and full of life through to his final days. He will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.

Please join his family at his celebration of life at the Turner & Porter Neweduk-Erin Mills Chapel, 1981 Dundas St. W., Mississauga, east of Erin Mills Pkwy, on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at 11 am, with visitation beginning at 10 am. Flowers graciously accepted.
