In Celebration of

Joe Fergus

March 19, 1941 -  August 25, 2021

My husband Joe Fergus passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga, Ontario. I was with him when he took his last breath and am grateful to the wonderful doctors and nurses looking after him and know he did not suffer. Next year would have been our 50th Wedding Anniversary.

Joe was predeceased by his father Isaac Fergus, his mother Roseanna Fergus (nee Gravel) and his sister Madeleine Fergus.

There were no children but I know Joe would have been an amazing father.

Joe was an entertainer for most of his adult life. He was a talented singer & comedian, having fronted many bands during his career. Joe had the Irish gift of gab and was as comfortable meeting and talking with perfect strangers as he was with his family and friends. He had a wonderful sense of humour and could find the funny side of just about any situation, always trying to see the positive side of things. He was definitely the optimist in our relationship!

I want to thank everyone who has offered their love and support during this difficult time and know that I am forever grateful.

If you wish to do so, you may make a donation to your favourite charity in Joe Fergus’s honour.

There are no events planned as Joe expressed he did not wish to have services.

Joe will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. I love you Joe.

Nadia, I’m so sorry. I haven’t seen you both in a long time but my memories of Joe are very fond ones. I loved his grace, his humor and his genuine goodness of heart. I wish you strength in the coming weeks and months. My thoughts are with you.
Much love, Aurora

Nadia, we are so shocked by the news of Joe's passing. We can't believe he is gone. He was our irascible and loveable neighbour, always ready with a wisecrack and a laugh. He seemed to like it when I (Bruce) dubbed him a 'cranky old bastard.' It was all in fun - Joe had a great sesnse of humour.
We will miss him, and pray for you at this time.

Nadia: I am shocked to hear this news. I talked to Joe by phone a couple months ago. He was as upbeat and funny as ever. I consider him to be a dear friend and I am so sorry we never had a chance to get together in person for a long time. My thoughts are with you.
