In Celebration of

Joao Luis Raposo

November 23, 1949 -  July 17, 2025

Joao Luis Raposo, aged 75, passed away on July 17, 2025, comfortably supported with the grace of palliative care. Born on November 23, 1949, in Arrifes, São Miguel, Joao was a man of incredible strength, profound courage, and enduring love. His loved ones were blessed with the gift of time for a meaningful goodbye.

Joao was a dedicated family man, a respected neighbour, and a trusted friend. He nurtured his relationships through quiet acts of service and provided for his girls and three grandchildren with great pride. He built with his hands and gave from the heart.

His hands were never idle. They stirred simmering pots of food that brought people together, turned over soil to plant what would feed and bloom, and repaired what was broken with patient determination. Whether he was in the kitchen, the garden, or the garage, Joao created spaces of warmth, nourishment, and care. Through every meal prepared, every flower planted, and every tool put to use, he showed his love without needing many words.

Joao’s fighting spirit and steady presence will be deeply missed, but the things he built—both tangible and in the hearts of those he loved—will endure.

It is with deepest sympathy that I extend heartfelt support and love to the Raposo family during this time. Witnessing first hand the lasting influence he’s had on Yvette and Catherine and the always welcoming home I was invited to in my years of knowing the family.
Sharing in traditions that celebrated love and togetherness.
May you always carry the fond memories of his life and find peace in the peace he has found.
With love,
Micki

My loving Padrinho,
Now you truly know how much I love you. With God’s all-knowing power he grants you the gift to see all truths, all knowings, and I find comfort knowing that you truly, as a spiritual being, will now know how deeply I have loved you my whole life.
Thank you for every way you stepped up into my life, truly, such a big piece of my heart is made up of you, the father I always needed. I love you forever, and ever. I miss you so deeply.
Please greet me when I am old and grey, and God had called me home. Please be one of the first voices my spirit hears when I enter God’s gates.

Ciao for now. I tell you I love you, knowing you’d answer with “me too”
