In Celebration of

Joan Yvonne Jack (nee Lippé/Clarry)

October 6, 1929 -  August 1, 2022

With deep sadness her daughters Paula (nee Clarry) Esplen and Laurel Clarry lost their mother Joan Jack (nee Lippé/Clarry) after battling for her last breath of life on August 1, 2022, at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga.
Mom grew up in Parkdale and attended Western Technical-Business High School. Our Mom worked most of her life in the legal profession with shorthand being her best trait after mathematics, in Downtown Toronto with her first boss Mr. Hamilton. She was proud to have worked in the historic CIBC building (25 King St. W.), which then dominated the Toronto skyline and was known for three decades as the tallest building in the Commonwealth. She was so proud of this. Joan stayed in the profession for the rest of her working life and even after retiring still worked yearly on estate files until she finally retired in her 80s.
Mom had many friends in her bridge club and scrabble club. Mom loved her garden and had many flowers and plants in her house. Mom was a devoted Blue Jay fan – going to games at the Exhibition and Skydome, and never missing the games on TV. Thank you to Ted and Ela Mazur her neighbours who always watched out for her and brought her homemade meals.
Joan was predeceased by Kenneth Clarry, her husband in 1978. She had the good fortune to find love and married Harold Jack in 1984 who predeceased her in 2010. Joan and Harold had a great loving life together for over the 26 years prior to Harold’s death.
Our Mom supported us through thick and thin and we will miss her terribly but with all her pictures she had taken over the years, we will always have them to remember the happy moments.
Joan was predeceased by her first child, Lance Gordon Alexander Clarry in 1953 who was 6 months old but she was strong and carried on with life. She will be buried beside Lance along with her parents and grand-parents.
Joan loved travelling, playing bridge with her “girls” and spending time with her family.
Joan leaves behind her two daughters, Paula Esplen (James) and Laurel Clarry (John Lee); two grandchildren, Paul Esplen (Stacy) and Kathleen Esplen; her sister-in-law Barbara Wright (nee Clarry), her two nephews, Troy and Myles Wright, her Godchild, Douglas Innes, her step-daughter Hilda Jack and step-grandson Hector Jack.
Joan has been cremated and will be laid to rest at Westminster Cemetery in Toronto at a later date.
We must thank her family Doctor, Dr. Melissa Graham who looked after Mom for years and years with care and understanding. We also must thank the doctors and nurses who looked after Mom in her final days on Unit C1 medicine at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga Ontario.

In memory of Joan Yvonne Jack, please make a donation to Trillium Health Partners Foundation.
