In Celebration of

Joan Audrey Garth

March 12, 1938 -  July 21, 2023

Joan Audrey Garth died peacefully at The Villages of Humber Heights on Friday, July 21st, 2023, at the age of 85. Daughter of Leslie and Gladys, survived by brother David (Raili). Predeceased by husband of 4 years, Bernie (1965), and husband of 44 years, Alan (2014). Cherished mother of Scott (Cristina) and Kevin (Denise). Fun-loving “grandma” to Jessica, Matthew, Sarah Grace, Meagan (deceased 2001), John, David, and Anthony. Beloved great-grandmother of Gia, Gemma, Vincent, and John Luca.

Joan began life in West Toronto and attended Etobicoke Collegiate. She went on to become a Registered Nurse through the Atkinson School of Nursing at Toronto Western Hospital in 1959. From that point forward, Joan dedicated her life to caring for others and being a fiercely devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Joan is remembered as enjoying spending her leisure time with James Michener novels, cheering on her Blue Jays and Maple Leafs (go Lanny!), and spirited evenings with the “bridge club”.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, July 27 at Turner & Porter Butler Chapel in Islington Village from 2-4 and 6-8pm. A service celebrating Joan’s life will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023 at 11am at Islington United Church, 25 Burnhamthorpe Rd., Toronto.

For those wishing to make a donation in lieu of flowers, please visit the Meagan Bebenek Foundation website at www.meaganshug.com.

Our family would like to thank the amazing staff of the Lambton Neighbourhood at The Villages of Humber Heights for their 9 years of exceptional care and comfort they provided for Joan.
