In Celebration of

Jennifer Matte

August 24, 1946 -  June 12, 2020

It is with great sadness that I share with you the death of Jennifer Elizabeth Matte of Toronto on Friday, June 12, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre, Toronto, at the age of 73. Having been diagnosed with Terminal Cancer at the beginning of May this year she then suffered 2 strokes. She bravely fought to the end, but had suffered enough. Jennifer is survived by her sister Jeanette Kong and brother Alan Reed along with her nephews and niece, Andrew (Teresa), Stephen and Steven Kong and Mark and Tracy Reed. Jen also enjoyed her great nephews Liam, Owen, Drew, and Carson and her great niece Kayla. Having worked in the banking and investment industry she retired from RBC Dominion Securities to enjoy her retirement. Many thanks to the staff at St. Joseph’s and especially to the Palliative Care Unit the Nurses and Doctors where so supportive and caring during such a difficult time. During these difficult times, private family services will take place. Donations may be made in memory of Jennifer to St. Joseph's Health Centre Foundation. Online condolences may be made through www.turnerporter.ca

So sad to hear about Jenny. She was a lovely lady who always had a smile for everyone. I had the pleasure of volunteering with her at St. Joe's on Tuesday afternoons and being around her brightened my day! She'll be missed.

JEANETTE KONG

Born in London England to Jim and Alice Reed , she emigrated to Canada following in her brothers food steps who emigrated to Canada a couple of years before. Her sister followed the next year. and the two of them shared an apartment until her marriage. This unfortunately did not last long. She worked all her life never once being unemployed in both the banking industry and then into the investment side.
She always kept her English roots and loved watching the British shows on television and going to the theatre especially the comedies. Of course Mama Mia was her all time favourite as she love to sing along.
