In Celebration of

Jennifer Ann Landa

July 23, 1987 -  August 11, 2019

A cherished daughter, sister and friend, Jenn left this world peacefully with her family by
her side at the age of 32 on Sunday August 11, 2019. She leaves behind her parents
Alice Landa (Gene Meandro) and Gary Landa (Anne Verstraete) and her brothers
Michael and Chris Landa.
Jenn was a caring, compassionate, strong young woman whose impact stretched far
beyond what one might expect from someone so young.
Jenn’s love of people, food and life permeated both her personal and professional lives.
Early on, her ability to bring people together was evident continuing through her
university days where she was heavily involved in organizing events which evolved into
a career as an event planner. This was all done with a dash of wittiness combined with
careful attention to detail.
She loved to travel and explore and was sure to taste the local cuisine in each new
location. A longtime runner, she led a healthy and active lifestyle and was full of
boundless energy.
When cancer struck at the age of 26, she faced it with a mixture of tenacity, humour and
grace and was determined to continue to live life to the fullest while coping with a
myriad of symptoms. She was “a fierce advocate with the warmest heart” in her efforts
to support breast cancer. She authored articles, was a guest speaker and began a
fundraising campaign to support education for leading cancer treatments to bring hope
to future patients. She became a treasured friend and guiding light to many who were
also fighting cancer and was always there to listen, support and share with others.
Jenn’s most beautiful smile will forever warm our hearts.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Mount Sinai Hospital Marvelle
Koffler Breast Centre staff who surrounded Jenn with kindness, friendship and
competence over the course of her six year battle against breast cancer.
A visitation will be held at Turner and Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas Street West,
Etobicoke, Ontario from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 19, 2019 immediately
followed by burial at Park Lawn Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Islington Golf Club, 45 Riverbank Drive,
Etobicoke, Ontario from 6:00 - 11:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2019. Memories will be
shared at 7:30 p.m. And yes, there will be wine and cheese (Jenn wouldn’t have it any
other way).
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Jenn Landa Breast Cancer Visiting Professorship
Fund http://supportsinai.ca/jennlanda would be much appreciated
