In Celebration of

Jeannine Marie Ruebusch

February 17, 1933 -  December 25, 2024

Our beloved mother, Jeannine Marie Ruebusch (nee LeCouffe) passed away at the Dorothy Ley Hospice in Etobicoke on Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at 91 years old after a brave and courageous battle with Neuroendocrine cancer.

As the matriarch of our family, she was predeceased by her husband of 68 years Richard Ruebusch (May 2024). Mother to Rick (Debbie predeceased 2023) Susan (Steve), Denise (Ken) and Pamela (Henry); Grandmother to Yvonne (James), Rachel (Brandon), Victoria, Vanessa (Mitchell), Sarah (Andrew), Mitchell and Caroline. Great grandmother to Moraine, Kettering, Ellis, Amira and Arthur. Sister to Lorraine, Yvette (predeceased), Jean Paul (predeceased) and Nicole. Favourite Aunt to many on both sides of the family and cherished mother figure to many extended family and friends.

She was born in Campbellton, NB. in 1933, a small French speaking community along the Restigouche River famous for the abundance of salmon and lobster. She learned to speak English in grade school, but never lost her French language and heritage. She met our father when he came into town for a legion dance from the nearby US Airforce base in Presque Isle Maine; they married in June 1956 and lived in the USA (Maine & Ohio) before returning to Canada in 1964.

They settled in Barrie in 1968 to raise their family where she was most happy nurturing and caring for her children, grandchildren and many pets. She was the most hospitable and social person who loved to laugh, especially with her sisters and cousins. She loved life, her family, was a wonderful cook, compassionate care giver and never lost her feisty French personality. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends especially her most devoted daughter Pamela who she lived with for over 10 years.

Family and friends will be received at Turner & Porter Butler Chapel (4933 Dundas St. W. Etobicoke, ON. M9A 1B6) on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church (3055 Bloor St. W. Etobicoke, On M8X 1C6) on Friday January 3, 2025 at 1 p.m. Light refreshments will be served following the mass.
