It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Our Mother /Grandma /Great-Grandma on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at the age of 100 years old.
Beloved wife of the late Harold Simmons. Loving mother of Wayne (Julie), Betty-Jean (Jim), Howard (Anne) and Bruce (predeceased October 2021) (Laurie). Cherished grandma of Alex, Emmy, Jason (Nicole), Christine, Andrea (Kurtis), Brent (Janice), Scott (Ceidre), Jen and Jeff (Carla).
Great-Grandma Jean of Kaiden, Nicholas, Jacob, Lainey, Xander, Kayla, Joshua, Thomas, Julie and Ruth.
Our Mother was born and raised in Toronto. She was the youngest of 4 children. Raised in a house of Scottish immigrants, a cup of tea was always the offer to every visitor. The house was always full of relatives coming and going. Before and during WWII, she worked at General Electric. After a seven-year courtship, she married and settled in Dresden, ON as owner/operators of a small business. Our parents spent the rest of their married life working together. Family brought them back to Toronto.
Mom spent every summer with us kids at our cottage enjoying the beach, swimming and adventures. She loved her winters in Fort Myers, Florida with Dad. Even after all those sunny days at Wasaga Beach, she still always loved the sun.
In their later years Mom and Dad purchased a 100-year-old hobby farm and spent their summers restoring it. The grandchildren always enjoyed visiting Grandma at the farm and being spoilt with candy from the special drawer.
Her greatest pleasure was her family. She loved to laugh and always enjoyed having the grandchildren & great-grandchildren around.
She will be dearly missed.
Due to the limitations still in place surrounding COVID-19, the Family will hold a Celebration of Life during the summer.
