In Celebration of

Jean - Paul Bourgon

April 19, 1936 -  September 19, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Jean-Paul Bourgon at Trillium Health Partners, Mississauga Site, on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the age of 88.

He was a beloved husband for 59 years to Denise and a loving father to Robert (Anne Marie) and Eric (Ryanna). Jean-Paul was a cherished grandfather to Kasey, Andy, and Ben. He is predeceased by eight siblings.

Jean-Paul dedicated 40 years of his life to working as a welder for Chubb Safe Company. Known as a jack of all trades, he was always ready to lend a hand, whether it was repairing household items or servicing cars, boats, motorcycles, and snowmobiles. He built two cottages and two double garages, and he helped construct a house for Robert and a two-story hunting camp for Eric. His readiness to assist family members with repairs made him a pillar of support for all. Jean-Paul was known for his cheerful demeanor, always smiling and making those around him feel special. He had a musical spirit, often heard whistling and playing the squeeze box (button accordion), spoons, and guitar.

Active in the community, Jean-Paul participated in older adult skating and social hours at Cawthra Rink twice a week. He proudly took part in the Mississauga Senior 55+ Games for over 20 years, engaging in summer events such as Prediction Walking, Nordic Prediction Walking, and Prediction Cycling, where he earned medals at district and provincial levels. In winter, he competed in Prediction Skating, bringing home gold, silver, and bronze medals.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter ‘Peel’ Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy 10 N of QEW) on Thursday, September 26, from 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Dominic’s Parish, 625 Atwater Ave, Mississauga on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Credit.

For those who wish, donations in memory of Jean-Paul to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated by the family.

Such a lovely man. Always smiling. So generous with his time and homes. We loved spending time with him, Denise, Eric, Ryanna and Ben at their cottage. He raised a great man in Eric who is just as caring, helpful and generous. He will be greatly missed. Thinking of you all and sending a huge hug and tons of love.

Condolences to Eric, Ryanna, Ben and extended family. I never had the honor to meet Mr. Bourgon. After reading of his life of kindness and accomplishment I can see where his influence remains with Eric and into the future.
A long life well lived.

Jean Paul was a special person, remember him from cawthra arena, believe he made the coffee for the senior skating group, and also known for his red pepper jelly!

Rest in peace, Jean Paul.

Deepest condolences to the family.
