In Celebration of

János (John) Jakab Vidolovics

March 2, 1943 -  November 20, 2020

It is with profound sadness that we announce that János (John) Vidolovics passed away suddenly in his home on Friday, November 20th, 2020 at the age of 77. Loving father of Andrea, Johnny, Kim and Caroline. Beloved partner of Xiaoqing. Cherished grandpa of Sophie. John was preceded in death by his wife, Gizella (Babi) Balega. John will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Born in Pécs, Hungary into a large family including three older sisters, John grew up with his Hungarian family and friends until he immigrated to Canada at the age of 25, settling in Toronto, Ontario.

John was a machinist by trade but he came to love many other hobbies in his lifetime, including being a champion tankless diver, tinkering with German cars, most notably Volkswagens, and collecting and repairing vintage wristwatches. John also loved travelling and spent much of his life flying or going on road trips with family and friends to places like Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Hungary, and many destinations in the United States including his favourites: Hawaii and Florida.

John will be proudly remembered as a family man with an endless wealth of knowledge, tirelessly dedicated to helping his family and friends in any way he could. He was loved deeply by his family and will be forever missed.

For those who wish to offer a gift in his honour, donations can be made to St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish online or by calling (416) 225-3300.

My deepest condolences to the family. I have known John through my late husband, Joe, who was his friend. He sometimes helped out at the shop on LAKESHORE. John used to helped me with my car , bring it to his house for oil change etc. then bring it back . He even helped me clean out the junk in my garage! John will be missed for his kindness and willingness to help others.

My condolences to the Vidolovics family. Sidol was my godfather and I always remember him as being exceptionally kind. I shared a passion for watches with him. RIP uncle John.

It's difficult to express in words the sadness and sense of loss on learning of Janos' passing. He has been a close family friend for many years. He has always been reliable and most helpful with all car related matters, for which I am truly grateful. He is missed ! My heartfelt sympathy goes out to his children and extended family.
