It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Tom (Anastasios) Kovachis on July 3, 2024 at the age of 80. Beloved husband of 53 years to Violet. Loving father of Donna (Allen) and Freda (Pat). Much loved Dedo to Adrian and Sofia. Dear brother of Alex (Carol) and the late Peter.

Born in Vatahori (Breznitsa), Greece on March 7, 1944, Tom emigrated to join his family in Toronto in 1957. Marrying his partner in life in 1971, together with Violet they owned and operated the Royal Gate Restaurant for 41 years serving the Etobicoke community and making life long friends.

Tom is best remembered for his generous heart, hard work, devotion to family and friends and giving spirit. Some of his favourite things were listening to music, cheering for the Blue Jays, enjoying lake views at the cottage, driving the grandkids to activities and family dinners.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., on Monday, July 8, 2024 from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 1 Brookhaven Dr., Toronto, on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. Interment Park Lawn Cemetery.
