In Celebration of

James Strome

September 27, 1938 -  May 8, 2024

James Edward (Ted) Strome, who passed away peacefully on May 8, 2024, after a brief illness, leaves behind a cherished legacy of love and laughter. He was surrounded by his adoring family at the time of his passing. Ted will be deeply missed by his lifelong partner, Inez, and his children, Kathy (Nick), Michele (Marc), and Chris (Trish). His unwavering support, sharp wit, and captivating charm will forever remain in the hearts of his 10 grandchildren: Alicia, Brittany, Kaitlyn, Ryan, Danielle, Jonathan, Dylan, Jacob, Matthew, and Laura. Additionally, his family legacy extends to 9 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way this summer.

Born in Kitchener, Ontario in 1938, Ted was the eldest of three brothers born to Ed and Catherine Strome. He grew up alongside the Trent River. His many professional accomplishments included esteemed air force service, a successful commercial airline pilot career with travels around the world, and engagement in many other entrepreneurial endeavors.

Ted lived by a guiding creed that shaped his journey and guided his decisions: "Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, The courage to change the things I can, And the wisdom to know the difference." His spirit lives on through his loving family, the memories they shared, and his dedication to supporting others, which was a cornerstone of his life.

A visitation memorial to celebrate Ted's life will be held at the Turner and Porter Neweduk-Erin Mills Chapel, 1981 Dundas Street West, Mississauga, on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 4-7 p.m.

I will always remember Professor for his witty sense of humour and love for his family. I met him several times at the hockey rink watching his grandsons play. He always had a joke and an offer of treats for my girls. Rest in peace, I will miss you pal. Thanks for all the smiles!!

Grandpa Strome was a man for whom life was not simple (in fact I think his life story would probably be a bestseller). However, in the end, I believe it was the simple things that gave him the most life defining joy and satisfaction. It could be playing a game of golf, watching an exciting hockey game, hearing a funny joke, listening to good music, eating a tasty meal (or dessert), engaging in a stimulating conversation, joining in a heartfelt prayer, or spending time with the people he loved such as his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren - it was these small moments he knew should not be missed or minimized, but treated with quiet reverence and gratitude as they were what mattered most.
We love you grandpa and will always remember you with the mischievous twinkle in your eye. Until we meet again xx
