After a short courageous battle with cancer, just shy of his 80th birthday, Jim went peacefully to be with God. At home now in Heaven with his parents Harold and Margaret Chapman and his sister Beatrice Fee and undoubtedly greeted by his beloved dogs Chauncey and Paige.
Lovingly remembered by wife of 45 years Christine Mary Chapman, Nephew Bruce Lee, Niece Heather Scanga and Great Nephews Jacob and Benjamin Scanga.
Dearly missed by family friends Rev Allan Burr and Lynnda Burr and family, as well as Everett and Karen Lucenti and family.
Jim was born in Toronto and called it home for the entirety of his life. In his early years he lived in Parkdale later moving to the Etobicoke neighbourhoods of Islington, Mimico and Richview. Raised in Christian faith by his parents, Jim attended Parkdale Baptist Church, later transferring to Kingsway Baptist Church and finally Mississauga City Baptist Church.
He attended Fern Ave Public School and Parkdale Collegiate and eventually trained as an electrician. He had careers with CTV and McLean Hunter and provided support to Power Decisions Consulting Inc.
In his youth Jim was a member of the Toronto Militia out of Fort York. He enjoyed amateur radio and golfing and spending time outdoors especially in Northern Ontario. Jim was generous with his time and volunteered with church renovation projects and most recently in Event Day Supervisory roles with the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer and the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation Walk and PMCF Ride to Conquer Cancer.
Jim was a devout son, easy going brother, fun Uncle and there are no words adequate to describe the blessing he was as a devoted and cherished husband to his wife Christine.
"I am the resurrection and the life, said the Lord; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die"
John 11:25-27
