In Celebration of

James Douglas Freeman

September 7, 1927 -  March 21, 2023

With great sadness we announce the passing of our Father and Grandfather at his home Tuesday, March 21st after a long and fulfilling life.
Jim is predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret (1999) and his youngest son Brian (2022). He will be missed by his daughter Eileen, sons Joe and Jim, daughter in law Margaret, sister in law Bernadette, his grandchildren, Mary Ellen, Jim, Megan, Jarred, Jerome & Jenna, his son-in-law Pat, as well as great-grandchildren Connor, James and Autumn along with his many nieces & nephews. Also, his sisters, Lorraine, Dorothy, Katha, Mary and Madeline (Predeceased), his sisters-in-law Eileen, Eveline, and Maureen and brothers-in-law Earl and Jim.

Jim spent a longtime career in communications, first as a telegraph operator for Canadian National Railways and later a long career in network communications at Bell Canada. His career at CN took him throughout Northern Ontario as a telegraph operator and tester at more remote sites along the CN Rail Line.
Eventually, he moved to the up-and-coming Bell Telephone Company of Canada where he spent the remainder of his career. During that period he spent 2 years in Labrador and 7 years in Saudi Arabia. With our mother, he got to travel the world.

Jim greatly enjoyed spending time with family, was blessed with good health, lived a long and full life and will be greatly missed.

A private visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 28 at Turner Porter Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass (open to all) will take place following visitation Tuesday
March 28 at 10:30 at St Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, 2300 Burnhamthorpe Rd W.,
followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, 8361 Yonge St. Thornhill.

Family & friends are all invited to a celebration of life to be held following services, in Georgetown at Jim & Margaret’s.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice is welcomed.

Uncle Jim , we loved you very much. You are a wonderful man and loved by all. You have touched so many hearts and will always be remembered by all .
I will truly miss when l walked in the room and you say my name loud like it was on the TV show “ Cheers “ when Norm walked into the room. It used to be you and Uncle Dick. Until he passed away. But you kept doing it.
Well , you are up there with your family now just partying it up like the good old days.
R.I.P. Uncle Jim. Until we meet again. Love You
