In Celebration of

James "Ti Paul, Ahoy" Ah-Fat

February 3, 1956 -  August 17, 2022

James Ah-Fat (also known as ‘Ti Paul’ or ‘Ahoy’) passed away on August 17, 2022 at the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga at the age of 66 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loved ones.

James will be dearly missed by his wife of 33 years, Eileen, his wonderful children Jeffrey (Julia) and Judy, and his grandson, James Joseph. He was born to Lim Him Teng and You Chan Wah on the island of Mauritius and was one of twelve children. James is survived by eight of his siblings: Denise; Chin Sui; Shane; Nicole; Lisette; Brigitte; Chantal; and Philippe. He will be forever in our hearts together with his late brothers Julius, Alain and Patrick.

James has spent much of his life on the island working at the family store, known by many as ‘Magasin Ah-Fat’. He showed his passion and love of the ocean by catering to the needs of the fishing community and over the years many friendships have flourished from it. On weekends, he would welcome any opportunity to go on fishing trips.

He will be remembered as a ‘bon vivant’ for his love of food such as roast duck, dim sum and seafood; he also enjoyed the finest Single Malt Scotch. In his spare time, he would go on his walks at ‘Montagne Signaux’. James loved his life on the island and most of all, his family. We will miss him dearly and will carry his love and spirit with us always.

Public visitation is scheduled from 9am to 10:30am on Saturday August 27, 2022 at the Turner & Porter Peel Chapel on 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, followed by a funeral service at 10:45am. A private cremation will take place afterwards.

In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation in James’ honour to help them continue to support those affected by cancer.

Because he is the youngest amongst the uncles, I call him Ah Hoy. There is no need for uncle or Kiew Kiew. I will miss very much talking to him. I remembered his friend 'zenfant' said that if the mosquito bites him, it will get drunk. He is very close to his friend 'brede'. He does not miss to pay him a vist everytime he comes to Montreal. My children remember you very well because you have such a good way with kids. I'm glad you managed to see your legacy continues in little James. You told me you'll visit me but alas it is me who is going to visit you on your last journey. Rest in peace uncle Ah Hoy.
