In Celebration of

Jacob Alexander Mackenzie David

April 27, 1934 -  December 24, 2024

Dear Family & Friends,

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, Jacob Alexander Mackenzie David, on December 24, 2024 at Lakeridge Health Ajax Pickering Hospital. He was 90 years of age.

He was born in the Capital City of Roseau, District of Newtown, on the Island of Dominica, West Indies to Abigail Drusilla Jacobs and Victor Emmanuel David on April 27, 1934. He married Terren Fernella DeFreitas on June 9, 1960 in St. John’s, Antigua. They were married for 64 years and had 4 children.

On April 8, 1965, Jacob emigrated to Canada to start work in Medical Surveillance at South Peel Hospital in Cooksville, ON. He became a Medical Technologist and worked at Warner Lambert-Parke Davis Research Institute (now known as Pfizer) for over 30 years.

He is survived by his wife Terren, and their children: Franklyn, Ian (Denise), Stephen and Jacqueline. Grandchildren: Shalice, Christian, Alexis, Aaron and Hailey.

He had a great love for the church and was a Sub-Deacon and People's Warden at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene. He also enjoyed many activities including Bird Watching, Cricket, Track & Field and Hockey. He was a big Montreal Canadiens fan and enjoyed watching Jean Beliveau, Guy LaFleur & Ken Dryden back in the 70’s and 80’s.

He will be greatly missed.

Thank you for your condolences, support and kind thoughts at this time of sadness. We will always remember your love with gratitude.

A Funeral Church Service to honor and celebrate the life of Jacob David will be held at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene (Toronto) on January 11th, 2025 at 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM.

He will be laid to rest at St. John’s Dixie Cemetery, Mississauga after the service.

If you wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Association of Canada or the Alzheimer's Society.

Jacob Alexander Mackenzie David may have left this world, but his Love and Legacy will continue to live on, in the hearts of all who knew him.

Jacob was an incredible and inspirational man who meant so much to me and my family. Being an altar server with him at St Mary Magdalene’s was an important part of my life and I have so much gratitude for everything he did for our community. I’m sorry we’ll be out of town for his visitation and requiem, but please know that we’re praying for him and your family. May he rest in peace and rise with Christ in glory. Sending all my love.
