Jack (Jackie) FitzGerald

October 2, 1934 -  March 9, 2021

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of John (Jack) in his 87th year. Jack passed away peacefully at home on March 9th, 2021. Beloved husband to Pat. Loving father to Pamela (Norm), Gregory and predeceased by his son Ralph in 1989. Proud grandfather to Siobhán (Jesse) and Sinéad (Haiden) and great grandfather to Lily Moon and Bodhi. Survived by his brother Noel Fitzgerald of Manchester, England. Jack came from Dublin to Toronto in 1957 but his heart always remained in Ireland.

A private family service and burial has been held. For those who wish, a mass could be offered in his memory.

Aunty Patty, I'm so sad to hear about Jackie's passing - such a lovely man who will be sadly missed - hard to believe he is gone. I have lots of lovely memories of him & you, taking Laura, Bev, & I out on day trips during your visits home to Ireland & listening to Jackie's stories told in his lovely, soft voice. Im thinking of you, Pam, Gregory & the girls at this sad time.

I am so sad to hear of Jackie's passing. He was a gentle and kind man, always interesting and interested in others, thoughtful, inclusive and passionate about Irish literature and culture. He and Patty stayed with me a few years ago and it was such a pleasure to have them both. I regret that I did not get to see him again afterwards. One of nature's gentleman. Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. Rest in Peace.
