In Celebration of

Ivan Soroka

November 7, 1930 -  November 2, 2022

We find comfort in our sadness knowing Ivan is now at peace. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marusia (Rohatynsky), and cherished son Ostap (Terri Zimmer), sister-in-law Marika, brother-in-law Myhailo Rohatynsky (Dr. Liz Quinlan) Saskatoon, Sister-in-law Orysia (Rohatynsky) Parchment, St. Catharines, nieces and nephews of the Soroka, Plischewski, Woloschuk, and Chermaz families. Predeceased by brother Andrij (2012), sister Halyna (2014), nieces Christina Plischewski (2009), Sonia (2014), and Brother-in-law Taras Rohatynsky (2018). After the horrors of WWII, Ivan lived in Santiago, Chile, and Argentina. Ivan came to Canada in 1957, where he found employment cutting bread, and delivering milk and donuts. In 1963, Ivan worked until retirement in 1994 with Ford Motor Company in Oakville. After retiring, he worked another 15 years with Avis/Budget. Ivan loved to sing. He was encouraged by his brother Andrij to join first the Prometheus, then Burlaka Male Choirs. Even during his last years, Ivan could be heard singing in Spanish, Ukrainian, or Polish.
