In Celebration of

Ivica Bubas

September 24, 1937 -  January 21, 2024

It is with sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of our husband, father, and grandfather, Ivica Bubaš. He is predeceased by his parents Franjo and Kristina, and brother Josip. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Berta, his daughter Sue Hari (Andrei), son Frank, grandchildren Anthony (Jenna), Adriana Koloper (Ivan), and Sophia. Had God not called Ivica to Him, he would have been overjoyed to be a great-grandfather to Baby Koloper, due this summer. He will be sadly missed by his sister Nada Peternelj (Joe), niece Ema Križan (Janez), their children Kristina Kezele (Michael) and Anton, and nephew Andy.

Ivica was born on September 24, 1937, in Vukova Gorica, Croatia. He left his homeland to come to Canada in 1967 and shortly after that, his sweetheart arrived – they were married in Toronto in 1968. It was humble beginnings for them, but Ivica never let the challenges in his life keep him from taking care of those he loved.

He lived his life with passion in the company of many friends and family, and was a kind, understanding, and intelligent man. His manner was blunt and direct, but always laced with humor, which will be dearly missed. He will be remembered as a fun-loving and caring human being who could be counted on when called upon for help, or to get the party started – he played a mean accordion, had some great dance moves, and never had a shortage of stories to tell, even if it was the same one for the tenth time, we were all happy to play along. His was a life well lived, and he would be proud of the legacy he has left behind.

May Ivica rest in peace. His memory is forever cherished by those whose lives he touched.
