Died on Friday, June 24, 2016, after a brief illness, during which she was surrounded by her whole family. She was born in Sanctuary, Saskatchewan on July 2, 1924 to Ruth Kingston and Charles Edmund Daw. She graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan in 1946. She was the University’s first female engineering graduate. There she met her devoted husband, William H. Harper who predeceased her in 2005. She was the loving mother of Cathie (John Estey) of Glenview IL, Joyce (Chris Whidden) of Orlando FL, Bill of Mississauga and Heather Reil of Toronto. She was very proud of her grandchildren: Erin Estey Hertzog (Christian), Cameron Estey, Erica Titchener (Harley), Hilary Whidden, Erin Forsyth (Craig), Robyn Harper (Sam), Max Reil (Mary Rachel), and Jacqui Reil, and was delighted to live long enough to enjoy her great-grandchildren: Colin and Greta Hertzog, Will and Sophie Titchener, and Dante and Logan Forsyth. At Isobel’s request, no service will be held, and her interment will be private. An event to celebrate her life is being planned by her family to be held later in the summer.
