In Celebration of

Iris Mary Lowe (Nee Pittis)

September 10, 1929 -  December 1, 2024

Surrounded by her entire family, Iris passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 1, 2024. Loving wife of James Frederick Lowe for over 50 years before his passing in 1999. Devoted daughter of Dorothy Mary and David Arthur Pittis. Dearest sister to Daisy, James and John. Adoring caring mother and friend to her children – Lynda (Paul), Sandi, David (Johanna), Debi (Fonte) and Tricia (Ricardo). Wonderful Nana to her nine grandchildren, and Granana to her eleven great-grandchildren.

Iris was kind and a bright light to all who knew her. She was a celebrated hostess who cherished entertaining family and friends at her home on The Kingsway. Iris’s legendary shortbread cookies, almond cake and walnut chews were eagerly devoured by all. Declared “Ruler of the Moms” by her youngest granddaughter at the age of 7, Iris led by example with her loving, kind and caring disposition. From annual destination getaways with her four daughters, to many large family gatherings, we all carry endless fond memories of our time together.

Iris’s faithful dedication to St. James Cathedral for over 45 years included being head of Hospitality, Coffee Hour and the Altar Guild. She was also a lifelong member of IODE and Sinawiks.

The funeral service will be held at St. James Cathedral (65 Church Street, Toronto, M5C 2E9) on Saturday, December 7th at 11 a.m. Visitation will take place at 10 a.m. in the Cathedral prior to the service, followed by a reception afterwards at the Cathedral in Snell Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. James Cathedral Choir Fund, World Vision or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Condolences to Sandi and family.
It was always a pleasure to visit with your Mom in Wawa, and when she shared her Toronto driveway with us while we travelled ❤️. A kind lady with a beautiful family.
