I was blessed to have Mom in my life for over 44 years. She raised two amazing children with her first husband Pete, I was lucky she raised such a great son and that I got 34 years with him before he passed. Then she met and married Eric and he brought three adult children and their spouses into our family. With kids, grandkids and great grandkids we have grown (are still growing) into a large, loving family. I will miss you Mom.
Memories are made in the moment. You don't realize until later that you have a cherished gift forever captured in your heart.
This time should be sad and while I am saddened that Mom’s physical presence in my life has ended, I am joyful of the many, many memories that Mom gifted me. They make me smile.
Irene was a welcome addition to our family when she met and then married our dad, Eric, in the early 1980’s. They both had a wonderful second chance as each other’s life partners for 36 years, and the Arnott family gained a lovely stepmom. We will miss her kindness, her generosity, her calm ways and also her sense of fun and love of a good joke. Sharing a laugh in these later years was always a delight! Irene’s memory will always be close to our hearts.
I have many lovely memories of Irene. First being how happy she made our father. They were so lucky to have found each other and share so many wonderful years together. I know Irene was always so happy when all the families were gathered together. In the recent years since Dad past, Irene and I spent many enjoyable visits together, whether it was outside on the patio of the retirement home or in her room. There was always something to talk about and to have a laugh. Being diabetic she was careful not to indulge in too many sweets. She did however love my lemon squares and I loved how her eyes would light up when I surprised her with a small container of them. She never said no to those squares for sure.
She was a very remarkable lady who will be greatly missed.
