It is with surprise and sadness that I hear of and start to process the passing of my dear aunt Ingrid, who to me will always be “Giggi”, I and/or maybe my brother Andre couldn’t say Ingrid, the closest we could get was Giggi and it ‘stuck’ and became her nickname. I remember Giggi as always being cheerful, with a glowing smile and having a little laugh at the end of some of her sentences even if she was talking about something not so good, she would still find the humor or absurdity in the situation or in life. And even as lived with her fateful diagnoses she was always cheerful when I spoke with her. She was a great and loving mother, grandmother and wife to Johnny and will be so very missed by all of her family. She was always fun to talk to and to be around. I remember so many great and fun Christmas’ and Thanksgivings together with great food and always a truly beautiful, warn comfy atmosphere and decorations. The best Holiday and family memories that I have included Giggi, Johnny, Michi (Michele), and also Ingrid’s (and my dad’s) mom and dad, my Omi and Opi. I’m so thankful for all of that and all of those memories! I am so lucky to have that. I’m also thankful of the beautiful lunch and afternoon Giggi and I spent together in Bloor West at the Green Mango and then coffee and cake at Islington, back in the fall before Covid. I wish we had repeated our lunch date again more recently, especially since it was her turn to pay  I tricked her, pretending to go to the washroom so I could secretly pay the bill because I knew there was no way she would let me. Also, I will always cherish (and service when needed) the old Nordmende tube radio that Giggi gave me after Jonny passed. “I will keep it until it’s my turn to depart. I use it at least every week Gig and will always think of you and Johnny when I listen to it”. Love Marc
