In Celebration of

Hiroshi Kumagai

August 17, 1923 -  July 16, 2022

Hiroshi (Doc) Kumagai passed away peacefully, at his home, in his 99th year, with family by his side, on July 16, 2022.

Hiroshi was predeceased by his beloved wife Helen. He was the loving father of Brenda Midori (Oscar), Barbara (Glenn), Gerald (Noriko) and Eldon. Loving Jichan to Justin, Alexandra (Sebastien), Andrew, Luke, Emily and Hiro and great grandchildren Luna, Sienna and Nicholas. He will also be missed by his sister-in-law Miyo and many nieces and nephews.

Hiroshi and Helen enjoyed many trips together. Hawaii was a special place for them, and he loved the challenge of climbing Diamond Head even at the age of 95. Hiroshi’s family, friends and neighbours were touched by his zest for life and positive attitude.

Our family would like to thank Dr. Sean Skeldon and caregivers, Edna, Chato and Marjory.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 21 from 4-9 p.m. at Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas Street W., Etobicoke.

In lieu of flowers or koden, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Please accept our heartfelt condolences, our hearts go out to you for your loss. Your father was such a wonderful, gentle man, and he will be greatly missed by so many. We will always cherish the memories we have of "Doc", and remember all of our garden visits, meals eaten together, camping and Hawaiian adventure stories. We will always remember the knowledge he passed on to us, and think of him fondly. He was quite a remarkable person to have known. An icon of great health, someone to respect and look up to. We will miss him dearly, we do regret not being able to see him over these past few years do to Covid, I know he would have loved one more batch of my mini chocolate chip cookies! We consider ourselves very fortunate to have known such a wonderful person and will remember his kindness forever. We take comfort knowing you are reunited with Helen now, rest in peace! xoxo
