In Celebration of

Herbert W. Woods

November 15, 1951 -  April 17, 2021

It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Herbert “Herb” W. Woods at the age of 69, on April 17, 2021 at Trillium Health Partners - Mississauga Hospital.
Survived by his loving and devoted partner of almost 30 years, Edna MacDonald; step children Adriane Smith, Tania Honan (John) and Lianne Barone (Carmine); and eight grandchildren; cherished brother of Gail McClain (John) and loving uncle to Tiffany (Ian) and Max (Taylor).
Born in Toronto, Herb spent most of his youth on a golf course fueling his love for the game, both playing and watching. He was a fan of many professional sports and an avid reader, reading three newspapers cover to cover each day. His incredible memory for facts and trivia was a gift that all of us envied.
As a longtime employee of G.E. Capital, Herb was an executive account manager in the large equipment financing industry and a mentor and friend to many of the young team members; relationships that continued to this day. He was the consummate professional and even following his early retirement in 2013 he continued to wear his button-down dress shirts every day without fail.
Herb had a large diverse group of friends that he considered family. His family would like to thank his close friends and neighbours that showed loyal support and kindness throughout his journey. We are eternally grateful.
Heartfelt thank is given for the very compassionate and professional care provided by Lorraine Welsby R.N. and Dr. A Hung. They were there for us at all times and we owe them so much gratitude.
Due to the restrictions surrounding COVID-19, a small service will take place in private at Turner & Porter, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, Ontario. Online condolences are welcome at www.turnerporter.ca.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Herb’s memory, can be made to Pancreatic Cancer Canada www.pancreaticcancercanada.ca.
A celebration of life will be held when it can be thoughtfully planned to take into consideration the current state of the pandemic.

Dearest Gail, John, and Edna and Families

Our hearts are filled with so much sadness to learn of the passing of your beloved Herb and we are sending you our sincerest heartfelt condolences .

He was definitely a force to be reckoned with.. .. and he always made us smile and laugh with his stubborn but quirky little ways. He had so many endearing qualities, but one that always made us smile and which comes to mind, was his flare for style and fashion which he took so much pride in.... whether it was a formal event.., a golfing weekend or just an informal get together... Herbie always looked so stylish and handsome and always sported the latest in fashion and we always loved hearing his stories about his latest shopping sprees.

We have so many wonderful and cherished memories of him and we will, without a doubt miss him dearly.

We are keeping you all close in our thoughts and are sending much love and strength during this difficult time.

Much Love Beth & Jim

Herb, thanks for all the laughs, debates (sometimes turned into arguments), and company while I was at work. It was my pleasure serving you for many years, and you'll absolutely be missed at Bobby's (table 25). RIP
