It is with profound sadness that the family of Henry John (Andy) Olynyk announces his passing on November 10, 2023. Henry passed away at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario, with his daughter at his side. He leaves behind his children Andrea and Michael (Trudy); his sister, Helen (Rising) of International Falls, Minnesota; son-in-law, Stefano Radaelli; sisters-in-law Natalie Bundza and Linda Bundza, and grandchildren Matthew, Nicholas, Andrew, and Katie. Henry was predeceased by his beloved wife, Vera Luba (nee Bundza) who passed away on January 9, 2023, after 70 years of marriage. He is also predeceased by his daughter, Joanne (Radaelli), who passed away in May 2021, and his sister Olga (Melenchuk).
Henry was born and raised in Fort Frances, Ontario, and moved to Toronto to study violin in 1951, where he met his wife, Vera. The couple moved to Sudbury in 1956, for Henry to begin his 35-year-long career at Dictaphone Corporation.
Henry was an exceptional and highly respected hospital systems sales representative. Dictaphone moved Henry and his family from Sudbury to Winnipeg, and then London, where he and Vera enjoyed over forty years in a city that they both loved. He won sales achievement awards every single year of his tenure at Dictaphone, was always striving to achieve the best for his family, and was a highly optimistic and amusing person. He loved to tell and receive a good joke up until the end of his life, and his children and grandchildren have been blessed to have experienced his positive energy and outlook on life.
Henry was a very accomplished violinist with the Sudbury, Winnipeg, and London orchestral societies. He proudly played first violin with the Fanshawe Orchestra in London for many years and frequently
accompanied Vera's beautiful soprano voice. He was also a devoted violin teacher, and in his retirement, learned how to handmake violin bows. Music was Henry's greatest passion, and he played his violin up until the very end of his life, often entertaining the residents of his retirement home with virtuoso performances.
