In Celebration of

Helen Margaret Traynor

December 2, 1945 -  December 10, 2022

Our family is saddened to announce the death of Helen Margaret Traynor on December 10, 2022. She was born to Margaret and Robert Reid on December 2, 1945 in Kirkintilloch, Scotland. She married William Traynor on October 27, 1962. They emigrated to Canada in 1965 with their children Bill and Annette, and soon afterwards would have Robert.

She is survived by husband, William Traynor, children Rob Traynor (wife Tanya) and Annette Holland; grandchildren, Logan (wife Saber) and Dylan Traynor, Kyle and Shelby Holland, and Patrick and Brennan Traynor (mother, Lisa Villani); great granddaughter, Isla along with many treasured friends.

Helen will join family members who have previously passed: parents, Robert and Margaret Reid; her three brothers David, Dan and Robert; and sadly, her oldest son, Bill Traynor.

She attended Lenzie Academy in Scotland and graduated in1960. She was a wizard with numbers and after arriving in Canada headed an inventory control department at Compair Canada. Countless times she was interrupted and asked for numbers or where to find things. She would rattle off numbers and locations and tell them to stop bothering her. After all, she was trying to get her work done.

My mother was devoted to my father, her first love and first priority. She would sacrifice anything to ensure his happiness.

Mum was a devoted hockey mom, who learned the game when my brothers started playing. She championed them, the Leafs and grandson, Logan. She could be heard rooting for them or telling them how to get a goal. She was the loudest voice.

When we were kids, she was a no-nonsense mom. If we fell, she would check the ground for damage (to distract us), make a fuss about the ground and send us on our way.

She loved golfing, especially with my Dad. Through golf they made many good friends and wonderful memories. Mum was a terrific putter. Her style...walk up and schmuck it, and it usually went in. She may have been the putting whisperer. The professionals could have taken lessons.

Her greatest gift.....her sense of humour! Mum was quick-witted, sarcastic and full of mischief. You knew she liked you if she teased you mercilessly. She used humour to put people at ease, welcome them into our home, MAKE US ALL LAUGH and express her joy.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date and time. Details to be advised.

We thank you for visiting this memorial page and ask that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Society in lieu of flowers.
