In Celebration of

Helen Irene Cleland

February 20, 1933 -  December 24, 2024

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Helen on Tuesday December 24, 2024 in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of David (1932-2017). Loving mother to Scott, Todd and Reid and their wives Arlene, Margaret and Lisa. Cherished grandmother of Justine (Sarah), Kevin (Karla), Brent, Grant (Stephanie), Reed (Brad), Jeff and Holly. Great Grandmother to Kylar, Lawson and Payton. Dear brother of Neil Graham. Sister in law of Patricia Graham and much loved aunt to Phillip (Leslie) and Elizabeth Graham. Helen was born in Saskatchewan and, as she always liked to remind us “on the kitchen table”. Helen earned her Registered Nursing designation from the Toronto Western Hospital and subsequently earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto. Aside from her family, her passions were the cottage on Crane Lake, traveling with her lifelong friend group, tennis and regular bridge nights with her many friends. The family would like to express its deep appreciation to The Village of Humber Heights for their care and compassion. As per her wishes Helen will be interred with her late husband at a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, if desired donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated.

Mrs. C was wonderful to us growing up and through our adult lives. She put up with considerable shenanigans, always with love and understanding. Miss you already.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Cleland clan.

We were very saddened to hear that Auntie Helen had passed away. She was always at the centre of family events making sure everything was organized and taken care of. Leslie remembers the twinkle in her eye and her never ending charm and good nature. From Christmas Eve at the Cleland house to summers at the Cottage on Crane Lake she was a huge part of my life growing up. We have such good memories of her trip with my Dad out to Red Deer to visit with our family. She was so excited to visit Dry Island Buffalo Jump Provincial Park and trek down into the massive canyon. She talked about that day for years afterwards. We were able to get all of our Alberta family together for an incredible family lunch with her at Historical Heritage Ranch in Red Deer. She will be dearly missed. Love you Auntie Helen!
