In Celebration of

Helen Goduto

November 16, 1950 -  September 29, 2020

It is with deep sadness that we announce that our beloved Elena “Helen” Rosaria Goduto of Toronto, Ontario, passed away suddenly on September 29, 2020, at the age of 69 years. As a devoted Roman Catholic, Helen ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of God our Almighty Father.

Helen was born in Foggia, Italy and immigrated to Canada when she was a child. After she graduated from George Brown College - Nightingale Campus with a diploma in nursing, Helen entered St. Joseph’s Health Centre and had been employed for 24 years as a nursing assistant and later a patient care unit assistant. She courageously risked her life every day to save the lives of people on the Front Lines at St. Joe’s, battling against a deadly virus called SARS in 2004. She had made many connections and friends with her colleagues and patients. As a dedicated and committed worker, Helen made a positive difference in the lives of people and showed her compassion to comfort and provide quality care for the patients who needed it most.

Helen will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Nancy Goduto; her fiancé, Robert McGregor; her sister, Mary Riesberry; her niece, Joanne Tharby and her husband, Hugh Tharby; her nephew, Jason Riesberry and his wife, Julie Riesberry. She will also be fondly remembered by her grandniece and grandnephews, Brianne, Brendan, Ryan, Dylan, Derek and Darcy; her St. Joseph colleagues; and dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Aurelio Antonio Goduto and Nunziatina Izzo Goduto; and her brother in law, John Riesberry.

A private service will be held.

Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Helen to St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation.

“In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.”

“Amen.”
