Born March 17, 1930 in St. Catharines, Ontario. Helen passed away peacefully on July 18th, 2019 in Toronto after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years Donald and survived by her children Patricia, Cameron (Elizabeth), Andrea (Randy), Ian, and Paula (Dale). She is remembered fondly by her ten grandchildren; Christine, Kyle, Robert, Sarah, Rachel, Michael, Spencer, Christian, Trevor and Nicole. Her memory cherished by her five great grandchildren; Caleb, Mila, Daenerys, Forbes and Josephine.
Helen was a graduate of McMaster University’s School of Nursing and enjoyed caring for people in life as well as in her chosen field. She helped many as well by volunteering to care for the less fortunate. Helen loved continuing her education, dabbling in art and reading all kinds of literature- so much so that she usually had several books on the go at the same time. Forever curious about the world and open to new experiences she travelled the world with Don, always having a special fondness for France and all things French.
She lavished her retirement years in the warm sun of Florida where countless memories were made with her children and grandchildren. In her final years, Helen was blessed to have had loving caregivers, especially Dolma and Juanita. The family is eternally grateful for their love and care. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Helen’s name to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada. A service to honour Helen’s life will be celebrated at All Saints Anglican Church, 2850 Bloor Street West Etobicoke, on Thursday July 25th at 1pm.
