In Celebration of

Heather Marlene Chaves

May 9, 1974 -  August 6, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Heather Marlene Chaves, who left us peacefully on August 6th at the Ian Anderson House, surrounded by love.

Born on May 9th, 1974, to the late George Wall and Gloria Shelest, Heather’s life was a testament to kindness, resilience, laughter, and love. She is survived by her devoted husband, Gary, her beloved sons Justin and Jonathan, siblings Trevor, Rob, Laura, Kelly, and Brenda, and her cherished in-laws Carol, Lorraine, Lucy, and Kirk.

Heather had the rare ability to light up any room she entered and quickly turned strangers into lifelong friends. Her genuine warmth, sharp wit, and unwavering love left an unforgettable mark on everyone she met. A gifted cook, she created comfort and joy in the kitchen with her famous caldo verde and her irresistible perogies.

Her heart was boundless, not only for her family but also for her beloved dogs Buddy, Duke, and Rocco, who adored her with unshakable devotion. She was a storyteller and a binge-watcher of many TV series, always ready for a family dinner conversation about the latest show she had discovered.

Heather’s adventurous spirit took her across the globe. She travelled from Ontario to PEI, across the U.S., Jamaica, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, and Trinidad. She embraced new cultures, flavors, and experiences with open arms. And of course, there was her love of bingo, a pastime she shared with her late mother and grandmother, and one that always brought her joy whether she was playing solo or surrounded by loved ones.

Heather faced life’s challenges with grace, hope, and a fierce sense of humor that could brighten even the darkest days. She held her family close, drew strength from their love, and gave that love back tenfold.

She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.

Happy and adventurous, Heather, was in her 40's when we met. From that moment, her sparkling personality, and winning smile, won our hearts. Despite life's challenges, Heather was smiling and positive. We shared many enjoyable moments sharing a cup of coffee together, while sitting in the sun, or in the evening we sat around our bonfires, talking about our dogs and children. Heather came to my rescue many times, I am forever in her debt. She was truly a one of a kind person and we are so glad she graced our lives as a neighbour and friend.
