In Celebration of

H. Lloyd Hope

March 28, 1919 -  May 23, 2019

Vibrant to the end, having lived a full life, Dad has slipped the surly bonds of earth to join his beloved daughter, Jane McCurdy, among the stars. Born in Toronto to the family of Harry Ware Hope and Alice Rebecca Humphrey, Dad was the youngest of siblings Victor George Humphrey Hope and Iola Cook Atkinson. The family moved to Streetsville in 1924. Dad had a long and active life in that community where his family business, Dominion Sash Ltd., was a major employer from the 1920s until 1991. Dad was a volunteer fireman, a local politician and was instrumental in providing sports facilities for the town where he played baseball, hockey and lacrosse in his youth. A member of the Mississauga Golf and Country Club since 1949, Dad was an enthusiastic, competitive and avid golfer until recently. While flying officer in the RCAF, he defended Canada’s west coast in WWII with 135 Squadron. Lloyd is survived by his wife of 75 years, Doris, and their children Faith Clarkson (David), Heather Hope, Cynthia Hope and Son-in-law Len McCurdy. Grandchildren: Mark Clarkson, Dana Benson (Randy), Meghan Boulton (Scott), Kristy McCurdy (Mike Franks), Kevin McCurdy (Sarah Miles), Aaron Baldwin, Cealiea Hope Price (Jordan) and Lloran Hope. Great grandchildren: William and Alice Benson, Jake and Ben Boulton, Emma and Aimee McCurdy-Franks, Amelia and Becket McCurdy. Lloyd was predeceased by his daughter Jane McCurdy on March 30, 2018. Respecting Dad’s wishes, there will be no service. The Salvation Army, the Canadian Legion, Streetsville branch and “Aim for a Cure” Sick Kids, Toronto were Dad’s favourite charities.

A life well lived. A lovely man who I enjoyed at our volunteer firefighter bbq’s and corn roasts. Dave admired him very much.
