Dear Dana and family;
I am so sorry for your loss. Your obit word “spunky” perfectly summed up your mom. I think of her and your dad every time I sit in one of the comfy brown chairs they so generously donated for Steed Hall. And I had my last chat with Gwen as she was scraping dirt off the back stairs into the church. “ didn’t want to bother .Zoran when I can do it myself”. Spunky indeed!
Sorry to read of Gwen’s passing - my thoughts are with all of you. Your description of her was so accurate as she was spunky and adventurous … and thoughtful.
I was in awe of her independence and confidence, and hoped as a senior I would be as willing to hop in a car as she did, driving from Montreal through Algonquin Park to the cottage alone. She was a force!
Both your mom and dad were so easy to admire.
My sincerest condolences to the entire Brison family, and my prayers are with you all. I met Gwen in 1971 after her son, John, became my best friend in grade 8, after our family moved from Windsor to Toronto. I was best man for John, and his beautiful wife Melanie at their wedding. And, of course, babysitter to their wonderful children; Mary and Grace.
So Gewn was a very familiar face and all the Brisons should be extremely proud for how she lived her life and shared her joy. To know she is now together again with her beloved Jack is truly a blessing.
I recall that Gwen was a big supporter of our ladies spring fundraiser, Bids 'N Bites and I once told her she won the prize for promoting it so well. I think that was the year she she had corralled 8 or 9 ( tables (of four) to come out and play bridge!
Gwen and Jack were solid Humber Valley members for many many years. Both of these fantastic people were good friends of my parents and I remember many good conversations with both of them. Sorry for your loss but memories of your parents will live on with others.
