Oh Gizmo
I still find it hard to believe that you’re flying with the angels. I will miss our messenger chats and seeing your most recent knitting projects.
Stand on guard with your fellow police volunteers till we meet again.
I’ll be sending you birthday cheers till we see you on the other side!
Dear Francois and Theresa...Sending our deepest condolences and sharing in your sadness.
What a beautiful and full life he lived- but taken way too soon.

Francois, Theresa . Marie and The Family of Guillaume ,
Our deepest sympathy and our prayers on the passing of this very accomplished young man.
Although we didn't have the honour of knowing Guillaume, his story speaks to the very special person that he was. His life was one of sharing his talents with so many through his volunteer work over the years.
His talents both personal and professional were exceptional and to be greatly admired and remembered.
May you cherish your memories and find comfort and support in them.
Theresa and Frank Matys.
As a fellow Canadian, we shared a lot of stories with one another. One of the memories we’ll always cherish is how Guillaume transformed ordinary days into memorable experiences with his storytelling. He was a remarkable storyteller whose tales weren't just about relaying events—they were imbued with a playful humor and infectious fun that invited all of us to join in. Whether during a break or an informal gathering, his stories had a way of drawing everyone together, lightening our busy days with laughter and shared joy. His gift for storytelling made our work engagements feel more like a community, creating memories that will continue to bring smiles even when he's not physically present. Our sincerest condolences to the extended family for your loss.
tl;dr - Guillaume loved life and loved people.
To me, he was a friend, a confidant, an advisor, and a mentor. He profoundly changed my life and my spouse’s for the better, and I ache that we cannot thank him again. He showed us a world of possibility that once seemed only a distant dream.
Wise beyond his years, he led those that knew him to new ways of thinking, new ways of experiencing the world, and new ways of appreciating those artists, artisans, and philosophers that came before us.
He challenged the status quo. He never saw an obstacle that wasn’t worthy of combat and generally made those obstacles regret being there in the first place...along with a charismatic smile and a hearty room-filling laugh.
Not one to suffer fools, he mentored them instead. An excellent judge of character, he saw the potential in his fellow man and helped them achieve what they might not have on their own.
He didn’t need the latest technologies, the fastest cars, or a lavish lifestyle...he sought a purpose-filled life, returning to society more than he received.
Enjoying the finer things in life, he always knew the best little Italian restaurant, the smoothest vintage of artisanal French wine, and the subtlest nuances of the latest scotch whisky release. He could regale you with the history of Canadian rock music, debate the values of existentialism, or explain the brilliance of kaizen.
One to spend an evening knitting, practicing the cello, reminiscing to the sounds of his favorite bands, or baking the crispiest of vegetarian pizzas, Guillaume understood life’s simpler pleasures, and he knew where to find his happy place.
With the wisdom, knowledge, and poise that only a renowned scholar should possess, he delighted and intrigued those that journeyed into a conversation with him. Often hilarious, frequently intriguing, and always interesting, his charismatic style filled any room.
Whether cementing a long-standing social tradition in a thousand-year-old British Midlands town or policing the streets to ensure the welfare of his fellow man, Guillaume left a legacy with a magnitude that few of us will ever approach.
Anyone that knew him, and even many of those that never got the chance, owe a debt of gratitude to the value this gentle giant brought to our lives. I hope he felt our appreciation even if it wasn’t said aloud as often as it should have been.
There were few like you, G, and there are fewer still. Rest in peace, my friend, knowing that you conquered this human experience. You understood it and its people. You triumphed over its many hills and left every path you found better than it had been when you first laid eyes on it.
You will be sorely missed.
