January 11, 2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly loved mother and grandmother Gloria Marie Syposz (née Melito) on Thursday January 11, 2024 at age 82. Predeceased by her beloved husband of over fifty years Thaddeus (Ted) Edward Syposz.
Cherished and proud mother of Lisa Ann (Richard), Joseph (Cindy), Tara (Michael). Loving and tremendously proud grandmother of her five amazing grandchildren Lauren, Matthew, Conrad, Vincent, Addison Gloria was born in Toronto, Ontario to parents Eileen (née Lambrick) and Joseph Melito. The eldest of six children, she was raised in Toronto. Gloria met the love of her life, Ted, in the 1960’s at the Bank of Nova Scotia. Gloria and Ted raised their family in Etobicoke and then in Oakville where they resided for over thirty years. Gloria spent the past four years enjoying a new era of fun and friendship at Walden Circle Retirement Community.
Always social, Gloria loved to be with others, to chat, to laugh, to lend a hand, to entertain and to enjoy life. As a cancer survivor of more than 47 years, she was strong, brave and determined. Determined to live each day to the fullest. Gloria loved to cook, to bake, to travel, to listen to music, to spend time in the sun, on the beach listening to the waves of the ocean.
She cherished wonderful times with wonderful friends at Wasaga Beach, Myrtle Beach and in Florida. Gloria loved dancing with her adored husband Ted and spending time with her family, treasured grandchildren and friends. Gloria will be deeply missed. We would like to thank Dr. Samir Sinha and Dr. Adam Millar of the University Health Network, as well as, Dr. Shao and the Team in the 1B and 2B Units of Credit Valley Hospital for their care.
Family and friends will be received at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West on Monday January 15, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm.
Funeral Service to be held in the Chapel on Tuesday January 16, 2024 at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Park Lawn Cemetery.
For those who may wish, donations in Gloria’s memory can be made to Sinai Health/University Health Network (UHN)’s Healthy Ageing and Geriatrics Program or the UHN Diabetes Program.
