In Celebration of

Giuseppe Antonio Falcone

June 13, 1934 -  February 7, 2023

Giuseppe Antonio Falcone was born in 1934 in Roseto Valfortore, a small hillside town in southern Italy. He was the oldest of 3 brothers, born to Antonio Falcone and Concetta Falcone (Bozzelli).

In his youth, Giuseppe was a talented artist and excelled at drawing and painting. After completing his studies and mandatory military service, he set his sights on emigrating overseas. While waiting impatiently to be sponsored by relatives in Canada or Australia, Giuseppe and his brother Valentino left Roseto to seek employment in France. After a couple of years in France, Giuseppe returned to Roseto where he met his future wife Rosa, whom he married shortly thereafter. They were eventually sponsored by Rosa’s sister Antonietta whom they joined in Toronto in 1965, via Halifax. Giuseppe and Rosa settled quickly into their new life in Canada. They worked hard to purchase their own home, which they did the following year, in the summer of 1966, shortly after the birth of their first child, Mary.

Although they left family members in Roseto they joined many others in Toronto, with whom they enjoyed many celebrations and special occasions. After the birth of their second child Tony, they purchased their first vehicle – a 1967 Mustang – for their many road trips to visit Rosa’s other sister, Lucia, in Washington DC.

Tragically, in 1974, just two years after the birth of their third child Alfredo, Rosa succumbed to a short battle with cancer and many difficult years followed. He never remarried.

After many years working in factories as a brake-press operator, Giuseppe went on to become a commercial vehicle driver, which he enjoyed immensely as it took him across all of Southern Ontario. After retirement, he continued to enjoy gardening, reading and visiting some of his favorite local destinations, such as Niagara-on-the-Lake as well as fruit and vegetable farms.

Giuseppe died peacefully on Tuesday February 7, 2023, at home, at the age of 88. He is survived by his three children and three grandchildren, Marco, Ethan and Brooke.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
