Gaetano "Tom" Leo

September 11, 1954 -  March 21, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tom Leo on Thursday, the 21st day of March, 2024 (six months shy of his 70th birthday). He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Barbara (née Paonessa), cherished father of Joanne (Dominique) and precious grandson, Gabriel. Tom leaves behind his loving sister, Franca, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Tom began his career as a French teacher at St. Michael’s College School. For the majority of his career, he taught French and later became a guidance counsellor at Don Bosco Secondary School. Tom was a gentle, kind and passionate man who made his family, friends, colleagues and students feel loved and important. He will be dearly missed by everyone.

The family will receive friends at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., on Tuesday, April 2nd from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at All Saints’ Roman Catholic Church, 1415 Royal York Road, on Wednesday, April 3rd at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Sanctuary Park Cemetery, 1570 Royal York Road. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or Diabetes Canada.

I first met Tom in September 1983 when we started teaching at Don Bosco and we quickly became friends. He was a kind, patient and gentle man. He will be missed by many. My heart-felt condolences go out to Barb, Joanne and the entire Leo Family.

Tom Leo was a true gentleman when I had worked with him from 2001 through to 2004. He always conveyed a warm smile and was well mannered and professional in his dealings with staff, students and parents.
Tom will surely be missed by his family and friends.
