In Celebration of

Frederick Theodore “Ted” Field

June 15, 1944 -  January 14, 2024

Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sunday, January 14, 2024 after a long fight with cancer at the age of 79.

Ted was born in Wichita to Dorothy and Frederick. After losing his father when he was in grade 10, he attended Harvard, served in the US Army in Korea, and travelled. He met Karen Leah (née Norris) while skiing in Quebec. After completing his MBA at Wharton, Ted and Karen were married in Etobicoke and moved to California, before returning to Etobicoke where they lived with their sons Anthony, Michael, and Nicholas. Karen predeceased Ted by less than a year, after celebrating 50 years of marriage.

Ted worked as a real estate finance specialist, and for him, family was everything. A man of principles, he selflessly supported his family and their interests. He was intelligent, caring, polite, and hyper-organized. Ted remained in close contact with his sister Mary June, and friends from high school and university.

Ted is survived by sons Tony (Karin), Mike (Maya), and Nick (Evelyne), and 5 grandchildren: Vanessa, Quentin, Clarice (Tony & Karin), and Elliana, and Alice (Nick & Evelyne).

A memorial gathering will be held at Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W., Etobicoke (between Kipling & Islington Aves.) January 22, 2024 from 2 p.m. until Celebration of Life in the Chapel at 3 p.m. Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dorothy Ley Hospice or to Prostate Cancer Research.

Dear Uncle Ted,

So many memories! You introduced me to skiing - my favorite sport of all - and bought me my first pair of skis from a ski swap for $20. I will always hear your Ski Patrol voice in my head saying "don't take that last run." You knew from experience that is when everyone gets hurt.

Love you forever, Laurie

Thinking of everyone at this very sad time. Ted was such a super husband to my cousin Karen.
Still remember their wedding and lovely homes in Collingwood and joy on the mountains there during the Winter. He will be missed as with cousin Karen and Aunt Vi. May he Rest In Peace.

So sorry to hear of Ted's passing. I admired him and enjoyed the time that we worked together at the CBC. I appreciate that Ted always took the time to listen. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
