In Celebration of

Frank Joseph Bonello

February 5, 1933 -  May 1, 2024

Frank Bonello passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 1, 2024, in his home, at the age of 91. He was born February 5, 1933 in Toronto, the son of Guiceppa and Joseph Bonello. He grew up in Toronto’s Junction District and became involved in hockey at a young age. It was while playing hockey in Chatham that Frank met Carol Hales. They were married in 1954 and were together for 69 years. Frank was a member of the Whitby Dunlops team that won the World Hockey Championships in Oslo, Norway in 1958. He joined Canada Packers while remaining involved in hockey and won two Memorial Cups while coaching and managing the Toronto Junior Marlboros. In 1988, he retired from Canada Packers and left the Marlboros to join the NHL to run the league’s Central Scouting office in Toronto until 2007. He is survived by his beloved wife Carol Bonello (nee Hales); his daughter Mary Anne (Willie Handler); his granddaughter Sarah Handler (Arthur); and his great grandsons Jordan and Zachary. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., on Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 11 a.m. Interment Assumption Cemetery. Our gratitude goes out to Dr. Ryan Patak, Sara Ibraham, Soher Al-Hamash, and the nurses and third floor caregivers at Sunrise Thornhill for your care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choosing.

Mary Anne

My deepest condolences

Your father was such an amazing man

As you know he was my first "Hockey Boss" and I can honestly say my best

He was smart considerate and so respectful which was unusual in that business

I have such fond memories of this great man. He will be missed

All the best

Michael
