It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear Franjo Ljubanovic, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 89 years of age at Sheridan Villa Long-Term Care. For 11 years, Franjo lived with Alzheimer’s disease, but fought with such strength and grace right until the end.

Born in Zeleznoj, Croatia, Franjo arrived in Canada in 1957 where he worked hard for his family’s future. Beloved husband to Mara (nee Berdik) for 70 years. Cherished father to Paul (Diane), Susie (Toni), Frank (Rhondda), and Mary. Proud Deda to Bill (Erin), Peter (Ashley), David, Anthony, Michael, Marina, and Johnathan. Great- Grandpa to Emma, Sophie, Maya and Jackson.

Proud Croatian and devoted family man who lived to dance and whistle to music. He was a true Maple Leafs Fan. Franjo will be deeply missed by family and friends and anyone who had the privilege to meet him.

Franjo’s family would like to extend their thank you to the PSW’s nurses, and other staff of Sheridan Villa who cared for Franjo over the past 8 years, especially in his last days. We are forever grateful for what they did.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy 10 N. of Q.E.W) on Monday from 5-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at the Croatian Martyrs Church, 4605 Mississauga Rd., on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at 10 a.m. Interment Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sheridan Villa Long Term Care.
