In Celebration of

Frances Maribel "Bel" Conover

May 9, 1935 -  August 23, 2023

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Bel, on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at her residence in her 89th year. Beloved wife of Keith for 59 years. Loving mother of Sharon Hughson (Michael) of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Lorne Mitchell (Karen) of Stratford, Ontario, Colin Conover (Hulya) of Milton, Ontario, and Meghan Conover (Greg) of Littleton, Colorado. Much loved grandmother to 8 grandchildren: Ky (Michelle), Laura, Elena, Chloe, Hannah, Kate, Lexi and Tess and 1 great grandchild: Emrys. Dear sister of brother Howard Fritz (Janie) of Fredericton, New Brunswick and sisters Constance Walkington (deceased) (Doug - deceased) and Madeleine Grant (Howie - deceased) of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Bel will be fondly remembered by a large extended family and all those who knew her.

Bel was a woman of passion and creativity who graced the world around her with her many talents and endeavours. She was a steadfast and devoted mother who never failed to support her children in every manner. As a patriotic Canadian, Bel took on a leadership role in mid-life as the President of the Committee for an Independent Canada in hopes of insuring a strong future for her country. A life-long animal-lover, Bel nurtured many canine family members over the years and took intense pleasure in their company and much sorrow in their passing. Bel was a woman capable of creating great beauty around her: be it in the kitchen with masterful culinary delights or in her garden carefully cultivated over many years and finally realized as a masterpiece of glory.

No visitation or service will take place as per Bel’s wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations to OVC (Ontario Veterinary College) or Canadian Conservancy would be appreciated. A Celebration of Bel’s life will take place at a later date to be announced by the family.

Online condolences may be made through this website.

We will miss you. You were always so welcoming from when I was a teenager coming to your home to see Colin, up to when I moved my family to Canada. You and Keith welcomed them to your family. We will always be grateful for your love and kindness. Our condolences and thoughts are with the whole Conover family.
