In Celebration of

Eva Anna Longo (Nee Catalano)

July 9, 1940 -  October 22, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Eva Longo, beloved wife, mother, nonna, sister, and aunt, who left us peacefully on October 22, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with illness. She was surrounded by her family in her final moments, just as she lived—always embracing the love and warmth of those closest to her.

Born on July 9, 1940, in Trenta, Cosenza, Calabria, Italy, to Salvatore and Angela Catalano, Eva lived a life filled with dedication, love, and selflessness. She was a devoted wife to Frank, and she nurtured her family with unwavering kindness and strength. Her children, Antonella (Frank), Frank (Deborah), and Vince (Eniko), were her pride and joy, and she showered them with care and wisdom that will forever guide them.

As a Nonna, she held a special place in the hearts of her grandchildren, Laura-Eve (Nicholas), Leanna (David), Benjamin, and Lauren, who will always remember her for her gentle hugs, endless stories, and homemade meals filled with love. Her legacy of compassion, kindness, and warmth will be passed down through the generations.

Eva came from a family of seven siblings. She was predeceased by Ada (Antonio Inglese) and Frank Catalano. She will be sadly missed by Aldo Catalano (Rachel), Enzo Catalano (Rose), Father Piero Catalano, and Anna Surace (Nick). She will also be missed by her sister-in-law Anna Catalano and her many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Eva was known for her devotion to her family and for her resilience in the face of adversity. Even in illness, she remained a beacon of grace and strength, inspiring those around her with her courage and dignity.

She was the angel of our family, she held us together, and showed us unconditional love. Though she is no longer with us, Eva’s love and spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her loved ones. May she rest in peace.

The family would like to thank the caregivers, nurses, and doctors who provided care and comfort in her final years.

Visitation will be held at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W., Toronto, on Monday, October 28th, from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Peace Church, 3914 Bloor St. W., Toronto, on Tuesday, October 29th, at 10:00 a.m.

Entombment will follow at Glendale Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
