In Celebration of

Eugene Samuels

March 2, 1944 -  June 3, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Eugene Samuels, 80. Eugene passed away peacefully on June 3rd, less than a month after being admitted to hospital with symptoms from what turned out to be Stage 4 cancer.

Born in KGF, India, to Norman and Mary (as one of nine children), Eugene moved to Canada in his twenties and built up his life through hard work, eventually retiring as a millwright with Unilever Canada. Along the way, with his ex-wife Mary Ann, and helped by family and friends, he laid the foundation for his own family, including his sons Wayne and Matthew, and the apple of his eye, his grandson, Lukas.

Eugene lived a quiet life and was fiercely dedicated to his family, his friends and his faith; in his last days, he had the good fortune to be surrounded by all three.

Friends and family may call at Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St, Mississauga (HWY 10, N. of QEW), on Friday, June 7, 2024 from 6–9 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 2340 Hurontario St, Mississauga, on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 9:30 AM. Reception to follow at Turner & Porter.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Lung Cancer Canada, or the Trillium Hospital Foundation, where Eugene received wonderful care, not just in his last visit, but throughout his life.

Eugene, you were always a gentle, kindhearted and caring person. The Hendricks family was honoured to have you as a close family friend from the early 70s, when there were frequent get togethers, celebrations and joyous times. Soon you also garnered close friendships with the Bamfords and Flowers, especially Kenny and Eddie. Throughout the following years you remembered to keep in touch with us and joined in to celebrate the numerous Victoria Day, Canada Day, Labour Day, Grey Cup and Superbowl celebrations, hosted by one of your best friends...Eddie Flower. Now is your turn to meet up again finally with Eddie and to share in eternal peace with the Almighty. The rest of us who cherished your friendship will miss you, but you will always be in our prayers.

Had many fond memories of Uncle Eugene, especially when I would go over to visit Uncle Eddie and he'd be there hanging out with the rest of the boys crew. Always some good laughs. My heartfelt condolences to Wayne, Matthew, and the whole family. Rest in peace, Uncle Eugene. Love Nicole, Yoni and Audrey.

Eugene was a beloved member of our extended family for over half a century and a beacon of devotion to his two fine sons throughout their lives. His affection for our own children required no encouragement; and his plentiful expressions of friendship and support to ourselves will always be remembered and treasured. Many very fond memories of adventures together will not fade with his passing. May the rewards in his new, eternal life be both bountiful and great.

Being included in Eugene's circle of friends was special, because he was special. He had the ability to spread his unique brand of humour and laughter with just a smile! His loss will be felt by all those whose lives he touched. May Eugene find peace and comfort with those who loved him and who have gone before him to prepare his welcome into their celestial crowd. Sincere condolences to his family and his family of friends.
